Alpha Video's Digital Display Group Improves Productivity at Century College
For the past 15 years, Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota has used its visual communication system to post information for students. Events, student club meetings, scheduled speakers at the college, registration deadlines, scholarship information, blood drives, and open houses were all important news items the school needed to get to its students quickly,
easily and often.
However, with two campuses, the school recently determined that it needed an upgrade to its existing technology. Century called Alpha Video's Digital Display Group (DDG) for help. Having worked with DDG in the past, the A/V technicians at Century knew they could count on them to be on top of all the new technologies that would enable them to improve their current communication system.
“Initially we chose CastNET because of its user-friendly interface,” said Kim Peterson, Century College's A/V Technician. “We wanted our administrative support personnel to be able to update information quickly.” According to Peterson, Century College employees were a little apprehensive at first, worried about the extra time it would take for them to input information into a complicated visual communication system. However, they discovered that CastNET is easy and quick, and they are now very excited about the system and all its capabilities.
CastNET has improved productivity at the college because it is an easy, user-friendly system, allowing those who use it to provide faster and improved communications with students. “We are even talking about eventually doing some community-based messages,” said Peterson.“We'd also like to try to add screen savers that contain school messages on our lab computers. We would get a lot more readership that way.
”Alpha set up Century College's initial visual communication system, and when it came time to upgrade and make some changes to it, Peterson once again called DDG. “We have worked with Alpha's Digital Display Group for 15 years,” she said. “Even though there haven't been many issues, DDG's phone support has been great. The support technicians are very responsive to problems and they are always able to walk me through solutions very quickly.”
Century College's new communication system was completed October, 2004.
